Looking for Dye! - Guild Wars Forums

I have done a search here, but the search won't accept the word "Dye"... At any rate, what is the best way to go about getting dye? I'd like to get as much of it as possible, is there a specific mob or location where I can get it?

Dye is part of the random drops. It isn't any more likely in one place or another or one monster or another.

Although it does seem to be just slightly more probable in the release than it was in the Betas, I mean I could go a day or two and NOT see any Dye drop. Yesterday alone I collected 2 Yellow, 2 Orange, 3 Green, 2 Blue and a Purple along with one of my other Guildmates cmae accross a Red.
Have yet to see Black or Silver

There are dye traders in most cities.

From what I have seen, there is no set patern to how or when Dye will get dropped. I have seen several folks doing trades for Dye as well as last night someone was giving orange dye away for free. Keep your eyes out.

in about 8 hours total i have 7 dyes including 2 silver

So do the dyes only drop Pre-Academy, or will they still drop afterwards?

They drop everywhere and in every part of the game including the noob area. My friend got a silver last night. I only managed to get one purple so far.

wow i meant to post including the POST noob area. So yes. Pre and post academy.

Just for fun a buddy and I grinded the "Worm Field" area by Ashford (the place with the monk in pre-sear). In a few hours we had about 10 dyes between us - I got 2 blue & 2 silver, he got a bunch of red, orange, and a yellow.
